Chippindale’s Sustainable Future Campaign

10th November 2016

Chippindale’s Sustainable Future Campaign will build sustainability across all our brands following the success of our bumblebee conservation project.

This five year vision will use the principles that have made our bee friendly farm scheme a success with retailers and consumers as it integrates an ethos of sustainability into every area of the business.

The Sustainable Future Campaign is already on track to increase solar PV by 50 per cent by the end of 2016 at our 55,000sq ft low carbon egg packing facility on the outskirts of Harrogate.

As an innovative egg production company, we’ve also set a target that key suppliers demonstrate improving environmental standards by the end of 2017. Other plans include measures to reduce CO2 emissions across its transportation network.

Chippindale Foods has been working with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust since 2013 to introduce bee habitats on our suppliers’ farms. The scheme has so far created over 16 acres of bee-friendly habitat in Yorkshire on farms that now supply our entire “Yorkshire” brand of free range eggs.

Managing director Nick Chippindale said: “Our bee friendly scheme worked on all levels to introduce sustainability right through from the supply chain to the shopper’s basket.

“We believe we have a responsibility to put plans in place that support a more sustainable future for generations to come by going beyond simply doing our bit to lower carbon footprint.

“Our ethos is very much about developing initiatives that can be clearly quantified as making a positive impact on our environment and community, spreading the word about sustainability.”
