Chippindale Achieves Zero to Landfill Target

4th September 2017

We are delighted to have achieved our zero to landfill target in partnership with our waste management providers.

Our commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle has led to us adopting a Waste No More strategy that takes advantage of the latest technologies to ensure all Chippindale waste is diverted from landfill.

By implementing a waste hierarchy we are able to sort materials so that they can be recovered. Some are reused or recycled. Others are sent to an ‘energy from waste’ facility.

Zero to landfill sustainability goal

Our zero to landfill target is one of a range of sustainability goals that has included introducing green energy on our site and supporting producers who want to implement renewable energy projects. A number of Chippindale producers successfully operate solar powered poultry sheds.

We have also updated our entire fleet of HGVs to the latest low emission vehicles and we measure and monitor journeys, load capacities and fuel use so that we can make sure our logistical operations are as efficient as possible.

Our sustainable business practices reduce our impact on the environment, help us manage our costs and allow us to work with like-minded companies who value partnerships with companies that take sustainability seriously.
